Vanessa Paradis is considered a top entertainer in France. Aside from being a singer, she is also a model and an actress.
As a singer, she rose to fame after the international success of her single which was dubbed, “Joe le taxi”. She released the song at the age of 14.
Vanessa Paradis Parents
André and Corinne Paradis, interior designers, gave birth to and raised Vanessa Paradis in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, near Paris.
As earlier indicated, her singing career began when she was eight years old, when her uncle, record producer Didier Pain, arranged for her to appear on the local television talent show L’École des fans.
Vanessa Paradis Personal life
Her relationship life also started at a very young age as she was in a relationship at the age of 15.
Paradis began dating Florent Pagny, a 26-year-old French singer, and their relationship lasted for three years as they had to split up in 1991.
She was in a relationship with Lenny Kravitz from 1991 to 1996, and during their relationship, he produced her 1992 self-titled album.
After her split from Lenny, she went into a relationship with French actor Stanislas Merhar, and this relationship only lasted a year from 1997 to 1998.
Her love life did not end there as she found herself in another relationship with American actor Johnny Depp and the relationship was her longest relationship as it lasted for more than ten years, from 1998 to 2012. They have two children: Lily-Rose Depp, a daughter, and John “Jack” Christopher Depp III, born in 2002.
Vanessa Paradis Career
Her first single, “La Magie des surprises-parties,” was released in 1983, and she performed it at an Italian festival in 1985.
Although it was not a hit, it paved the way for her breakthrough song, “Joe le taxi,” in 1987, when she was 14 years old.
It was number one in France for 11 weeks and, unusually for a song sung in French, reached number three in the United Kingdom.
It was taken from her debut album M&J (for Marilyn & John), which charted 13th in France but did not chart in the United Kingdom.
In 1992, the talented musician relocated to the United States to work with her boyfriend at the time, Lenny Kravitz.
She began work on a new album in English, which she was now fluent in. The album, Vanessa Paradis, was written and produced by Kravitz and charted in France and briefly in the United Kingdom.
“Be My Baby,” one of the singles from it, reached number five in France and gave her another Top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at number six.
In 2010, she has named the face of Chanel’s new Rouge Coco lipstick. She also became the face of their new Ranger handbag line.
During her international tour in 2011, she performed in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Turkey.
Love Songs, a double LP produced by French singer and producer Benjamin Biolay, was released by Paradis in May 2013.
Biolay also wrote the first single, Love Song. Les espaces et les sentiments was the second single.
Adrien Gallo, the frontman of BB Brunes, wrote the third single, Mi Amor. Other contributors to the album’s songwriting include Mickey 3D frontman Mickael Furnon, as well as Johnny and Lily-Rose Depp.
