Malacia,  a Rotterdam native, enrolled in the Feyenoord youth program in 2008 when she was nine years old. On December 2, 2015, he agreed to his first professional contract with them. He played the entire 90 minutes in Feyenoord’s 2-1 victory over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on December 6, 2017, to make his professional debut.

On December 13, 2017, Malacia made his Eredivisie debut for Feyenoord in a 1-1 draw with SC Heerenveen. He was not utilized as a substitute in Feyenoord’s 3-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the 2018 KNVB Cup Final.

He began Feyenoord’s 1-0 loss to Roma in the UEFA Europa Conference League Final on May 25, 2022, in Albania. Later, he was one of five Feyenoord players selected for the season’s Team of the Competition.

Malacia agreed to a four-year deal with Premier League team Manchester United on July 5, 2022, with an additional year’s option. Malacia 

became the club’s first acquisition under manager Erik ten Hag after United paid Feyenoord a €15 million (£13 million) base fee and an additional €2 million (£1.7 million) in add-ons.

It was announced two days later that he will don the number 12 shirt that Chris Smalling had previously worn. Malacia made his club debut on August 7 when he came on as a substitute in a 2-1 Premier League defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Malacia made his United debut on August 22, 2022, in a 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Malacia competed for the Netherlands in the under-16, under-17, under-18, under-20, and under-21 levels as a youth international.

He was called up to the Curaçao national team’s preliminary squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2021. Malacia’s first call-up to the Netherlands’ national football team came on August 27, 2021, in time for the teams’ 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification games against Turkey, Montenegro, and Norway. On September 4, 2021, he played in his first game against Montenegro.
