Global Firepower’s 2023 Military Strength Ranking rates 145 nations’ militaries based on a variety of characteristics such as the volume and sophistication of their equipment, their finances, location, and resources.
The ranking takes into account elements such as each country’s military equipment and troops, as well as its financial position, location, and available resources, all of which may be inaccurate. Notably, the rating exclusively examines forces from a conventional stance, ignoring a country’s nuclear attack capability.
Which countries have the most powerful military in 2023
There are now nine nuclear-weapons states in the world. They are as follows:
- Russia
- United States
- China
- France
- United Kingdom
- Pakistan
- India
- Israel
- North Korea
These countries have a total of 12,700 nuclear weapons, 9,400 of which are in active military stocks. While this represents a major reduction from the approximately 70,000 warheads held by nuclear-armed states during the Cold War, nuclear arsenals are anticipated to rise over the next decade, and today’s forces are far more competent.
