On November 14, 2018, Pearson ended his seven-year tenure with the Kings as he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Carl Hagelin.

In September 2023, Pearson hit the headlines after he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens along with a 2025 3rd-round pick in exchange for goaltender Casey DeSmith.

Pearson hasn’t played since suffering a broken hand last November during a game in Montreal. He had one goal and four assists in 14 games last season.

In 590 career games with the Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings, Pearson has 133 goals and 139 assists for 272 points.
