Sara Ramirez to leave Greys Anatomy after ten years on the show.

Sara Ramirez has announced she is leaving ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy after ten years on the show.  Sara has played the much-loved character of Dr Callie Torres for ten of Greys whopping twelve seasons.

She posted a note to her Twitter account, once the season finale had aired in the US on Thursday evening.

Show creator Shonda Rhimes also took to Twitter to share a heartfelt to Sara in the wake of her departure from the show.

Ellen Pompeo who plays Meredith Grey also shared her thoughts with this tweet:
