In 1969 Pablo Milanes became part of the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora, a pioneering group of young musicians, many of whom began as a movement on February 18 with a concert by Pablo, Silvio Rodriguez, and Noel Nicolas Nueva. Until the late 1980s, the Nueva Trova was the informal musical style of the Cuban Revolution.
