Brock Berlin Biography
Brock Berlin is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on July 4, 1981 in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. Berlin performed much better in the 2004 season, and added another historic comeback to his resume . He played Miami to a victory of 41-38 against Louisville during the game in which Miami recovered against a 17 point deficit the final 20 minutes the game. The Hurricanes were able to climb to #4 in the rankings prior to the late season defeats to ACC rivals North Carolina, Clemson, and Virginia Tech knocked Miami out of conference and national championship possibility. The highlight of the season was in the game against Wake Forest at the last home game in the regular season of this season, where Berlin broke the school record by completing five touchdown passes. Following an eight-three regular season record, Miami was invited to participate at the Peach Bowl, where Berlin played his old team which was that of the Florida Gators. Once again, Berlin enjoyed success against his old school, as Miami defeated the Gators 27-10. The team finished the year 9-3 and ranking 11th in both polls.
He played sparingly in the Dolphins’ pre-season games in 2006, completing 6-of-12 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. He was cut by the team on August 30, 2006.
On May 17, 2007, the St. Louis Rams signed Berlin to a contract. Berlin started his first NFL regular-season game on December 9, 2007 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was 17-for-27 for 153 yards and an interception.
After Ken Dorsey’s incumbent quarterback’s departure, Berlin took over the start-up job during the season 2003. Berlin’s debut season was marked by inconsistent play. In his first game at home in his new role as the Miami Hurricane, Berlin squared against his former team that was that of the Florida Gators. The Hurricanes were trailing 33-10 by the third quarter, and Berlin started to get applause from the crowd when the team’s 33-game regular season streak was about to come to an end. Berlin however, surprisingly, was on flames as the team changed to a shotgun approach and came back to hold Miami to 28 points unanswered. The 38-33 win was the most dramatic victory ever recorded in Miami history. Berlin also lit the fires of the rivalry between Florida and Miami by ridiculing his former team as well as fans after and during the game. The following week, Berlin again showed his ability to lead Miami to an impressive 22-14 win against Florida State, a rival Florida State. But, Berlin struggled in a 31-7 loss on November 1 to Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech Hokies, as Miami’s winning streak in regular season was cut short by 39 matches. Berlin as well as the Miami offense struggled again following week, as the hungover Hurricane team fell 10-6, to Tennessee on the road. Berlin was a target of massive criticism from public and the fans, was sacked from the head coaching position by Larry Coker for Miami’s next game against Syracuse. After Miami’s offense, led by Derrick Crudup, again struggled during the 17-10 homecoming loss in the game against Syracuse, Coker switched back to Berlin. Miami won its place in the Big East Conference, defeat Florida State (for the second time in that year) at the FedEx Orange Bowl, and end the season with a record of 11-2, and was ranked 5th according to both polls. Despite showing poise and leadership qualities, Berlin’s numbers during the season of 2003 (2,419 yards 12, 12 touchdowns, with 17 interceptions) were not spectacular and Coker made it clear that he would be a contender to be the next quarterback during the season’s spring.
After the 2001 seasonended, Berlin was transferred from at the University of Miami, where it was his chance to take on the national champions Miami Hurricanes. In accordance with NCAA transfer rules, Berlin sat out the 2002 season, during which time he ran Miami’s scouts team.
Berlin went undrafted in the 2005 NFL Draft, but was soon signed to a free agent contract by the Miami Dolphins. He served as a backup quarterback for the Dolphins during training camp, although he was not a member of the team’s active regular season roster. During the offseason, Berlin was allocated by the Dolphins to NFL Europe to the Hamburg Sea Devils.
