Brain Urlacher is a retired linebacker for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL), where he played for 13 seasons total. He was one of the school’s most accomplished athletes while playing college football for the New Mexico Lobos. He was taken ninth overall by the Bears in the 2000 NFL Draft as a result of his achievements in college.

Urlacher won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award in 2000 and rapidly made a name for himself as one of the NFL’s most prolific defensive players. He earned first-team All-Pro honors four times throughout his career, was chosen for eight Pro Bowls, and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2005.

Brian wanted to go to Texas Tech University, but they refused to give him a football scholarship, so he attended the University of New Mexico instead, where he finished with a degree in criminology and played football for their New Mexico Lobos team.

When Brian was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2000 NFL Draft, he signed a five-year contract, which marked the beginning of his professional career.

In 2006, he helped the Bears win their first Super Bowl since 1986 after being awarded the League’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2005.

He played until 2013, at which point he retired, but he wasn’t ready to give up football entirely, so he started working as a TV football analyst. In 2018, he was admitted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
