'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Makes Box Office History

The stars have aligned for Star Wars.
The newest installment in the epic Star Wars series, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has officially surpassed all box office records to become “the highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market”, according to a statement by the Walt Disney Company.
The movie, released on December 18, 2015, has been highly anticipated, as it begins a new trilogy and storyline for the franchise. Besides breaking the record for biggest all-time debut with a staggering $247.9M opening weekend (a record previously held by Jurassic Park), The Force Awakens also set many other records, including biggest opening week, biggest IMAX debut, and fastest film to reach $700M.
The Force Awakens will have its final international market release in China on January 9, 2016. The numbers from that are expected to earn the movie the record of highest-grossing worldwide film.
The force is clearly strong with The Force Awakens.
